Bentonite Detox

The Bentonite Detox can help you eliminate toxins that have been liberated from your tissues. Many methods of detox involve freeing heavy metals, pesticides, chemicals or other toxins from their hiding places in the body tissues.

What is it?

Bentonite clay is a natural substance that has been used for centuries to remove toxins from the body. There are natural clay deposits throughout the world where birds, such as macaws and lorikeets, go to eat the clay to help them rid their bodies of toxins. In the case of the macaw, they sometimes eat foods that could be poisonous to them, and the clay helps them to recover from the effects of the poison.

In humans, clay can be used to combat skin problems like exzema and psoriasis, and various other skin afflictions. Necrotic spider bites can be cured by packing the area daily with hydrated bentonite clay. Poison ivy is another reason to use bentonite clay.

Packing hydrated clay on the skin is one method of alleviating the pain and inflammation of skin disorders, for reducing wrinkles, age spots, and other skin problems. It’s best to hydrate the clay overnight first, then pack the area with a half-inch layer of the hydrated clay. Cover it with some type of waterproof protection like plastic wrap or other plastic sheeting. It can be left on all night, or for an hour or two. When you’re ready to take it off, use a table knife to scrape it from the skin, and then wash off the remainder.

Remember, however, that the clay will be carrying the toxins with it, so handle it wisely. Do not touch the clay, or allow your body to soak in water containing the used clay. Dispose of it and wash your body completely to remove the residue of clay.

While detoxing using internal methods such as chelation, bentonite taken internally or in a bath or skin pack helps to remove the toxins that are loosened from the body tissues. Many times the internal organs of elimination, the liver, kidneys and colon are unable to remove all the toxins without help.

If you use bentonite, the toxins are not allowed to re-enter other cells and remain in the body. If you do not remove the toxins completely, they can lodge in another part of the body and cause even more toxic symptoms.

Clay Bath

Another method is to bathe in a clay bath. In this method it's actually acceptable to bathe in the bentonite clay mixture because it does not contain the toxins until you soak in it.

Prepare the clay by soaking about two pounds of bentonite clay in water overnight to hydrate, then add it to a hot bath. Soak for up to one hour in the clay bath to remove toxins from your body. As mentioned above, you should be very careful to clean the clay from the bathtub, and shower to remove any clay residue from your skin.

This method removes toxins from the outer layers of your skin, which is the largest organ of detox. Many toxins become lodged in the layers of the skin where the body intends to remove them when it is able. But, there's only so much detox the organs, including the skin, can accomplish.

Because of this, you should help the process along by using methods such as the bentonite clay bath detox to help the skin to eliminate large amounts of toxins from the body.

Other methods of removing toxins via the skin are saunas and wraps. All are helpful in releasing the load of toxins the body accumulates near the surface for elimination.
