Now, the recipe for cabbage soup detox:

  • 1 Tablespoon coconut oil or extra virgin olive oil
  • Onion, up to three white or yellow onions, or a bunch of green onions
  • 5 stalks of celery chopped
  • 2 green, yellow or red peppers diced
  • One head of green or red cabbage
  • Several fresh tomatoes, or one can diced tomatoes
  • 4 cups broth (vegetable, chicken or beef)
  • 4 cups vegetable juice
  • 6 carrots chopped, or use parsnips instead
  • green beans
  • fresh or dried herbs – cilantro, garlic powder, oregano, basil
  • salt and pepper to taste

Chop the onions, celery and peppers. Place the oil in your soup pot and add the chopped veggies. Saute until the onions are transparent.

While those are cooking, chop or shred the cabbage, and chop the carrots, beans and tomatoes (if you’re using fresh tomatoes.) Throw in these veggies and add the broth.

Heat to boiling and season the soup to taste by adding any salt, pepper and herbs you like. You may also like to add about a half cup of brown rice to the soup. This can be done by adding it uncooked after the soup is boiling, or by cooking it and adding it when the rest of the soup is finished.

This recipe is just a guideline.

You can change the soup by using different veggies, or different herbs. Use your imagination. It’s your soup! It’s also ok to add a half pound of cooked chicken if you or someone in the family doesn’t do well without the protein.
