The Fruit Detox Diet is Easy and Effective

Here’s a detox that will get the body in shape from the inside out, a fruit detox.

With fruit, you can give your detox organs a refreshing lift. By reducing the amount of work the organs need to do for digestion, it helps them to eliminate more toxins and cleanse the body.


Fruits are full of fiber, and your colon can use plenty of fiber to push all those nasty toxic substances out. It’s a great combo, the fiber and high water content in fruit is just what the colon ordered for waste elimination.

All that fiber, in addition to the natural sugars in fruit makes it easy to stay on the detox diet because you never need to feel hungry. You should be eating every two hours, so you don’t have time to be hungry.

I suppose you’ve heard of phytonutrients? They’re tiny power-packed packages of health and glowing wellness. Disease is on the way out when phytonutrients make their way in. Fruits are full, FULL of phytonutrients!

Eating fruit is a wonderful way to move the body back to a state of alkalinity. Our diets are filled with processed foods, animal protein, and sugar laden sweets. For optimum health, our bodies need to maintain a pH of 7.35 to 7.45. In that range we will be much healthier and feel much better. Did you know that cancer can only exist in an acid environment? People with cancer have been found to have pH levels in the 4.5 to 5.5 range.

You can find out what your pH level is by purchasing pH strips from your local health food store, or many websites online carry them.

Fruits also provide energy for the proper functioning of the body.

They are also packed with life-giving enzymes, which jumpstart the digestion process and take a load of work off the poor overworked pancreas. Fruit does not create mucus, so it’s healthy and cleansing to the system. The fiber in the fruit can do its job to scrub the walls of the colon clean and rid your system of mucus and plaque.

It’s important to be feeling reasonably healthy when you start a fruit detox because if you’re sick your body needs all the strength is has to fight off the disease. So definitely don’t start a fruit detox when you have the flu.

Citrus – break the fast

Citrus fruits are especially important for detox because they have the highest detox capabilities.

Lemons are especially good as a detox agent. It’s a good practice to squeeze some lemon juice into a glass of water and drink. You can do this at every meal, whether you’re on a detox or not.

Because there is such a variety of fruits available to choose from, it’s hard to get bored on this type of a detox diet.

While sleeping, the body does its best detox work. To assist the body in this function, and to prolong the detox period into the morning, the fruit detox is an especially good idea. For this reason, one of my favorite fruit detox diets is the one advocated by Jay Robb. His diet allows you to have a protein drink every two hours for the first day, then fruit in the morning for the following two days. For each of the three evenings on his plan, Robb’s plan allows for a huge raw veggie salad, with avocado or olive oil. You can also eat a small (3-6 ounces) portion of lean meat.

Robb’s plan causes the body to go into what he calls a fat-burning mode, using fat but saving muscle tissue. It’s important, on this fruit detox, to eat a variety of fruits. You should aim to eat at least five different fruits on each of the two fruit detox days.

While doing the fruit detox diet, it’s preferable that you take herbal supplements to help the detox process along. Herbs such as dandelion, fennel and burdock help the liver to do its job of detoxing.

After only three days on the fruit detox,

you’ll feel lighter and have better energy levels. Enjoy the fruit detox as often as once a month to keep your body in tip-top shape. Toxins will have nowhere to hide.
