My Herbal Detox Diet

In India, festivals are all about eating sweets and high fat fried foods. These rich, cholesterol laden foods are totally junk and have zero nutritional value. On one such occasion, eating these foods not only increased my calories, but also made me feel lethargic and sluggish. I also suffered from frequent severe throat infections, which made me totally sick.

That's when my cousin, who also happens to be a naturopath, suggested me to follow a herbal detoxification routine.Herbal detoxification is more about following a detox diet and cleansing.

I needed to stay away from all the junk and fried foods. Instead I was asked to include a lot of organic vegetables ( since they are free from pesticides), lots of fluids, green salads, soups, fruits and fruit juices. Few fruits that were specifically suggested to be included were apples, pears and strawberries. These foods do justice to our body and are beneficial in a long term. The herbal detox diet helped me to regain energy and build a positive attitude.

In cleansing, I was told to include few herbs in my diet, as they help to remove the waste products and toxins from our body. Few of these herbs were Chamomile, ginger, parsley and Dandelion root. Gentle exercises like walking were suggested to me.

This detoxification did help me to get rid of my sluggishness. I could feel as if I was reborn. I do take care of my diet by avoiding junks and try to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
