Know the Natural Ways to Detox

To know natural ways to detox, we must first understand what detoxification is.

Some ways to detox the body include:

  • feeding it the proper food and drink to help eliminate toxins,
  • exercise to push the toxins from the cells,
  • resting to allow the body to work and heal,
  • using external methods of detox to help in removal of toxins,
  • and nourishing the body to allow it to rebuild what it has broken down.

You must cleanse the blood to detox the body. In the process of cleaning the blood, you begin to remove toxins from the liver. The liver is the master organ of cleansing and elimination. To assist the liver, you have kidneys, intestines, lymph nodes, skin and lungs.

It seems like a simple process, doesn’t it? But look into your cells, and you’ll see that your body is filled with impurities that the organs have not been able to eliminate. Why is that? Our earth, beautiful, pristine, vital earth, has been invaded by thousands of toxins that man has created. So besides having to deal with natural toxins, present within the earth from the dawn of creation, now our bodies have to filter out man-made toxins it wasn’t meant to handle.

Did you know that in the 1800’s, it was virtually unknown for a person to die of cancer? Or diabetes? Or heart disease? Now how could that be?

It’s the things man has created to make his life “better.” But how much better is it if our lives are shortened by disease and disability?

So now, as a result of these thousands of toxins introduced into our bodies, we need to “detox.” The best way to detox is to plan on doing some sort of whole body detox at least several times a year. Cleansing toxins from your body can help your body to function better, and help you to feel more alive and healthy. If you follow this plan, you will feel clean inside, more alive and just plain wonderful! Another method of allowing your body to detox better, is to change things in your life that escort those toxins in to begin with.

If you reduce the load of toxins your body has to deal with, it has a much easier time of eliminating what is unavoidable. Sure, I know, there are so many toxins in the world today that it’s almost impossible to eliminate all of them, but we can sure do our best to get rid of the biggest culprits!

So let’s talk about Natural Ways to Detox

The first thing you should learn to do is to drink lots and lots of water.

It's one of the first, and most important ways to detox. The body needs water to flush out toxins from your system, so drink one ounce of water for every two pounds of your body weight each day. So if you weigh 150 pounds, drink 75 ounces of water a day. That’s about 9 or 10 eight ounce glasses of water.

And, you should remember that water is water, and nothing else is water.

So if you drink a healthy cup of green tea in the morning, don’t count that as water. And likewise, juice is not water.

Other drinks, such as soft drinks, sports drinks, coffee, alcohol, or sugar filled fruit drinks only add to the toxins your body needs to eliminate, so of course they are not considered in your daily allotment of water. Each of these items should be completely eliminated from your diet if you are going to detox. They only add more toxins, so it makes it much, much harder to get the existing toxins out.

Exercise to Detox

The next thing that you should be doing to detox is exercise.

It’s a wonderful way to get your body to sweating, and it helps the lymph system to move toxins out of the body. Studies have been done on sweat, and it has been found that sweat actually contains many of the toxins we need to eliminate from our bodies. So, if you don’t sweat, there’s one chance you’ve lost for detoxing the body.

Have fun when you exercise, get out with your family and go for a walk. Go swimming, hiking, fishing, horseback riding, anything that works up a sweat is fine for detox.

One of my favorite ways to detox through exercise is working in my garden. And that has the added benefit of providing healthy, delicious organic veggies and fruits for my family to eat.

Speaking of sweating, did you know sitting in a sauna is also a great way to detox? Yep, the sweat that pours off your body still contains toxins that are no longer inside of you. Be sure you drink lots of water when you sweat, though. Your need for water escalates as you sweat because you lose electrolytes as well as toxins when you sweat.

What About your Diet?

Next, be sure to eat lots of fruits and veggies.
Preferably organic. See how that works out? I get my exercise, and get those wonderful fruits and veggies as a side benefit. Cut down on animal protein and eat more fruits and veggies. Your body will love you for it. It's one of the most vital and important ways to detox.

Animal protein, such as meat, milk and eggs, all build up acid in the body. That acid has to be eliminated by the body, and that adds even more stress on your system. According to

The China Study, by T. Colin Campbell, PhD and Thomas M. Campbell II, the people of China that eat the least amount of meat actually live a longer and healthier life. If you’ve never read it, The China Study is an enlightening and informative book that will definitely motivate you to reduce your intake of animal protein.

Superfoods are even better for detox than your average fruits and vegetables. Look for items like goji, acai and mangosteen. Blueberries, cherries, cranberries and other types of berries are also high in antioxidants and phytonutrients that help the body in its detox processes.

Veggies such as broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, leafy greens of all types, carrots and beets also contain those tiny powerhouses of food chemicals that are so valuable to your body’s detox sytems.

Get some roughage

It is a natural occurrence, then, if you eat fruits and veggies that you will get lots of fiber.
Fiber is the substance that helps your digestive system to move waste out via the colon. So you should also find other ways to add fiber to your diet. Ground psyllium, or flax seeds, are both excellent fiber supplements to add to your diet.

Did you know?

the average American gets about 12 to 15 grams of fiber a day?

The average American gets about 12 to 15 grams of fiber each day. To me that’s literally amazing! Especially when you know that you need anywhere from 20 to 35 grams of fiber each day for optimum health.

Keeping your colon clean and running smoothly is one of the top ways to detox.

Get your fiber from foods, or from supplements, but be certain to add it gradually. You can get to feeling pretty bloated and sick if you eat too much fiber suddenly and you are constipated. Make sure you also drink plenty of water, also.

“There it is again, she says I need to drink more water. “
Water helps the colon to move that fiber through and out the back door. It’s the body’s natural way of cleaning house.

This Home Remedy for Colon Cleanse is a wonderful way to get the colon moving and flush out all the old, putrid debris that may be lurking in there.

Other Natural Ways to Detox

So if you’ve done all the above to help your body to detox, what other ways are there to detox the body?

You can look around your house at the toxins you put into it every day. Eliminate cleaners, pesticides, and personal health products that contain toxins, and replace them with less toxic alternatives.

Look for deodorant without aluminum, toothpaste without fluoride, cleaning products and body cleaners without those unpronounceable chemicals on the label. The longer a label is, on any item, the more toxins it will contain. All those crazy sounding words are simply a cover-up for toxic ingredients.

I know you might not want to hear this, but coffee, alcohol, cigarettes and foods containing refined sugars and saturated fats need to be eliminated as well. They all produce acid in the body, which has to be removed just like any other toxins.

Of all the ways to detox, this is the most rewarding. It creates natural results that will amaze you.  You may also learn other methods for how to detox the body, by visiting here.
