I have tried many diets like most women. I came across the book Australian Womens Weekly Detox Book in my local newsagent for $4.00 bargain!
Readers can choose a 1 day detox, weekend detox, 1 week detox or a 2 week detox. The main claim to this detox is that your whole body gets a good clean out leaving you more alert and refreshed and generally cleaner, with weight loss sometimes as an added bonus.
I desired all of these outcomes and thought I would give it a go. The first two days you are allowed fish, rye bread, fetta, along with fruit and veggies, then following all the rest of the diet is vegetarian, with the last 2 days reverting back to the start with fish allowed.
Some of the food I disliked like grapefruit and asparagus. But overall the diet contains quiet lovely food. The herbal teas were delicious and made giving up coffee for two weeks easier. No sugar, no alcohol, no smoking.
Overall I lost 5 kilos in 2 weeks. I felt cleaner but I definitely did not have more energy, I was very lethargic, especially on the 3rd -5th days. I was happy about the weight loss though! I only put back on 1 kilo. Long term to follow this diet you would have to be extremely dedicated, hate meat and all things that are yummy! But it is definitely a good diet to lose a bit of weight before an event, or to generally give your body a good clean out!
